AW24
In January I outlined my agenda, or lack of for twenty twenty-four. At this point I’m unsure of a word to describe the last six months, turbulent comes to mind and given my fear of flying it resonates. Stress and anxiety seem to have been consistent, yet I’m trying to remain motivated by the thought of arriving at my dream destination. I suppose it’s easy to forget that it’s our own choice to start a new journey, to self-inflict new pressures and discomfort in the hopes of reaching our goals.
I’m imagining myself looking at the map on the screen in the headrest in front of me, staring at the tiny plane travelling along it’s route, there is so far to go, and the icon is moving at an excruciatingly slow speed, making me question if it is even moving at all. A shift in perspective though and it’s a different story reminding me of the steady progress which has already been made.
Right now, my own flight doesn’t feel at all smooth, I’m exhausted, and I regularly feel like I get lost in the detail, resulting in what seems like no movement. I’m proud of what’s been achieved so far this year even if it’s not moving at the pace I want it to be. I remain persistent in my efforts for realising the vision for SC&CO, but I’m also conscious that we can only travel so fast.
Spending time speaking, interviewing, and meeting creatives throughout the year has been one of my main highlights in a challenging period personally. The feeling of connecting with individuals over a shared love of design has been the biggest pleasure.
I really enjoyed pulling together some of my current inspiration together in the last letter so I’m going to follow a similar format for AW24…. and for consistency I’ll also sign off in the same way… If you have a specific topic, you are passionate about, want to bring focus to the project you are working on or know someone who might want to be part of this community, then I would love to hear from you. Please do get in touch if you want to catch up or curate an article together.
EDITOR’s LETTER

BUSTER & PUNCH
I’ve been a huge fan of Buster & Punch since I moved out. There really isn’t too much for me to say here except it’s a brand which takes everyday products that are so ordinary, so boring and makes them exciting.
I didn't know a light switch or door hardware could be so desirable or something I’m now so passionate about. Buster & Punch are the guideline as to how to excel at the way you do marketing and product design. I am constantly waiting in anticipation as to what they’ll be launching next.
02. THE surge OF FASHION caféS
Previously the idea of a high fashion brand collaborating with another business was few and far between, deemed as some sort marketing adultery.
Fast forward to today and that is far from the case. There seems to be a surge in fashion eateries who are popping up on a bi-weekly basis. The likes of Burberry x Normans, Gucci x Monacle, Rimowa x La Marzocco and Prada’s London Caffè are just a few examples. I’m here for it... but try booking a slot at Prada’s Caffè… Nigh on impossible.
03. THE GUCCI HORSEBIT CREEPER LOAFER
Debuting at Gucci’s FW24 Menswear it has felt like an eternity for these to be released. I’m unsure why I like these so much, perhaps it’s the connotations of gothic style which are provoking my 2009 emo phase. I’m now a proud owner of a pair, maybe I’ll also have to break out the Fall Out Boy albums soon for old time sake .
I mentioned Gucci and new creative director Sabato De Sarno in my previous letter who from a quick google seems to be splitting opinions. My own remains the same though, I think he's killing it and I love the new direction.
04. BEAUTIFUL PR By Sophie Attwood
Over the last few years it feels like I have consumed a huge quantity of both self help books and business guides. I maintain the view that you need to take these types of reads with a heavy pinch of salt, one size doesn’t fit all and applying advice to real world scenarios in comparison to the what if ones made up in your own head are two very different things. Whilst there is a focus on the beauty industry, Sophie Attwood’s Beautiful PR is an excellent guide to navigating PR, Marketing and Communications across any business.
05. The New Look
I have never been the biggest Dior fan but when I came across The New Look on Apple TV my interest was piqued. This is well worth a watch and explores the rise of Christian Dior through and beyond World War II. I now have a new found appreciation.
06. VOGUE WORLD - Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu
Vogue World was slightly ridiculous… The highlight for me by far though is Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu storming the runway in a full Saint Laurent suit. After all she is the real fashion icon of Emily In Paris.
07. CELINES PILATES COLLECTION
Ludicrous isn’t it? Love the campaign though, très chic.
08. jot Press
With a focus on digital design it’s rare that I delve into the world of print. Recently though that isn’t the case, I am in the process of printing the SC&CO Vision and got in touch with Jot Press following a recommendation to print some compliments slips. Jot Press’ work is outstanding and well worth checking out.
